Oldest Church Found?

It appears archaeologists in Rihab, Jordan have discovered a cave that could have been an early church. Some of the highlights from the excavation so far:
  • Priliminary dating is between 33-70 A.D.
  • The cave was both a home and a place of worship
  • There is a separation of the home area from the circular worship area
  • An inscription found reads "70 beloved by God and the divine"
The other side of the coin comes from skeptic experts. Some want to suspend judgment until more dating is completed due to some of the artifacts reflecting a third century dating. Other still think this is just a way to boost tourism in the Jordan area. I know one thing...even if it is a tourism ploy I'd still want to see it!
